New top story on Hacker News: Show HN: myphotos.site – Google photos to a website in 60 seconds

Show HN: myphotos.site – Google photos to a website in 60 seconds 31 by gabigrin | 11 comments on Hacker News. Hey HN! My friend and I love taking pictures on our phones, and we were looking for a super simple way to share them with the world. Google Photos albums are nice, but the result isn't slick enough and lacks customization options (embed, custom domain). That's why we built myphotos.site - a micro SaaS that allows anyone to create a slick, minimal gallery website from Google Photos. Galleries can be iframe-embedded for those looking for full customization. One thing we haven't solved yet - many Google Photos users (myself included) do not have images pre-organized in albums, so the fact that technically it takes 60 seconds to build a website doesn't take into account that you have to spend time picking the right images. Would love to some feedback/ideas from hobbyist photographers here!

New top story on Hacker News: Show HN: Nova JavaScript Engine

Show HN: Nova JavaScript Engine 7 by aapoalas | 0 comments on Hacker News. We're building a different kind of JavaScript engine, based on data-oriented design and willingness to try something quite out of left field. This is most concretely visible in our major architectural choices: 1. All data allocated on the JavaScript heap is placed into a type-specific vector. Numbers go into the numbers vector, strings into the strings vector, and so on. 2. All heap references are type-discriminated indexes: A heap number is identified by its discriminant value and the index to which it points to in the numbers vector. 3. Objects are also split up into object kind -specific vectors. Ordinary objects go into one vector, Arrays go into another, DataViews into yet another, and so on. 4. Unordinary objects' heap data does not contain ordinary object data but instead they contain an optional index to the ordinary objects vector. 5. Objects are aggressively split into parts to avoid common ...

Show HN: HTML-to-Markdown – convert entire websites to Markdown with Golang/CLI 23 by JohannesKauf | 5 comments on Hacker News. Hey HN! I originally built “html-to-markdown” back in 2018 (while still in high school) to handle complex HTML conversions where other libraries struggled. Now, I’ve released v2 — a complete rewrite designed to handle even more edge cases. It supports entire websites with a high accuracy. Example use: I’ve used it in my RSS reader to strip HTML down to clean Markdown, similar to the "Reader Mode" in your Browser. It can be used as a Golang package or as an CLI. Give it a try & tell me what edge cases you encounter!

New top story on Hacker News: Show HN: Spinup – Lightweight Wake-on-LAN Scheduler

Show HN: Spinup – Lightweight Wake-on-LAN Scheduler 11 by darwindarak | 2 comments on Hacker News. Hi HN, I’ve wanted a simple solution to handle Wake-on-LAN sequences for my home and work labs to boot up servers in the right order. I was already dabbling in Rust and thought this would be an interesting project to dive deeper and see if it could work well for this kind of network tool. The result is spinup. spinup lets you set up server dependencies in a YAML file, so each service (e.g., firewalls, storage, VM hosts) comes online in the right order. It verifies each server’s status before moving to the next. Features: - Dependency-based WOL with VLAN support - Built-in health checks (HTTP, open ports, shell commands) - Lightweight enough to run on a Raspberry Pi or similar device Would love any feedback. Thanks for taking a look!
